Before I begin, yes, the title is based on Rihanna’s song, but no, this post has nothing to do with the meaning of the word cake from that song …sorry to disappoint … ya nasties. We are going to talk about oven-baked cupcakes and cake pops 😛
I’ve noticed I made up blog categories that have not been written about. Nor do I see myself writing about them in the near future. Food being one of them since I’m going to be pretty busy over the next month to be making anything. (Book reviews is the other category … I read like 1 book per year… don’t know what I was thinking when making that category).
So I thought, why not share some of the past things that I’ve made. I say food, but it’s really baked goods. One of the main reasons I like to bake is because I look forward to decorating them. Here goes:
These are cake pops that I made for my friend’s sister’s baby shower this past weekend. They were going for a pink, purple, and silver theme. One of my prettiest creations. Decorations and packaging were found at Party City and Michaels.
Coconut lime cupcakes with lime curd fillings that I made for my dad’s birthday. The sourness of the lime curd filling compliments the sweetness of the coconut icing. Yeah… I had a little photo shoot for my cupcake to post on IG (judge me all you want).
Nutella cupcakes that I made for a friend’s birthday. Personally I’m not a fan of nutella because it’s too chocolate-y for my liking, but I enjoyed eating this with a glass of milk to get rid of that chocolate after taste. The friends enjoyed it as well.
These are Christmas themed cake pops that I made for last year’s Christmas Pot Luck. I had such a hard time coating the cake pops with the melted candy because the melted candy kept thickening. With the recent cake pops that I made for the baby shower, I bought the Wilton candy melting pot, which made it easier to control the melted candy.
These are cookie monster cupcakes that I made for fun. These were the first decent looking cupcakes that I ever made back in 2014. This was before I knew about there being Wilton decorating tips. If I were to make these again, I’d use the decorating tip #233 to make the blue fur. Of all the things that I’ve made, this is probably my favourite one.
So that is basically some of my memorable baking creations. Some of the things that I plan to make soon include: pumpkin pie, tiramisu mille crepe cake, and strawberry short cake.
